Do It Yourself – Check Security after setup
Congratulations, on securing your Wi-Fi Network following the guides and suggestions by WiFi Warrior. Its time now to check if the settings are secure enough to protect you, your identity, your computer and your data.
To help you check your Wi-Fi network’s security, Pure Networks by Linksys offers a free wireless network security scan tool. It lets you quickly check for wireless network security issues and other computer and Internet security problems. Some of the issues the tool checks for are unknown computers or devices on the network, use of a default password for the wireless… network router, changed or open ports on the wireless network router, manipulated settings on a computer that would redirect a user to a malicious website, and the presence of up-to-date antivirus software. The tool requires the use of Internet Explorer 6 or later.
McAfee also offers a Wi-Fi Scan tool. It surveys your current Wi-Fi® connection, your wireless equipment, and local environment to assess security risks introduced by your wireless network. Wi-FiScan uses an ActiveX control to gather information. If security or performance issues are found, McAfee will suggest ways to reduce your risk.
Have a Safe and Secure Wi-Fi Network.

My 3 year old gateway latpop with Intel Centrino Mobile technology works great but I was getting frustrated trying to connect to WIFI with only a B internal card. Since the latpop was out of warranty anyway, ignoring the do not open sticker on the wireless cover on the bottem of the latpop was no problem, and installation was a breeze, just uninstall the old drivers in the add/remove programs area of Windows XP, shut down, replace the card, then boot up and install the new drivers for the B/G card I had downloaded prior to this from Intel. Works like a charm without having to deal with an external card.
